The natural wood textures in the UniCote® LUX range (Ashwood, Maple, and Wenge) show an incredible likeness to the real material and provide a low-maintenance high-end substitute to traditional timber. Highly durable and long-lasting, UniCote® LUX has a long life expectancy, and the special coating used to protect the material finish from the elements helps to ensure that it retains its good looks and performance over time.

The patterned paint system provides superior colour and gloss retention relative to standard paint systems and is built to resist UV damage from Australia’s harsh sun – suitable for exterior environments where corrosion levels are moderate – this includes roofing, cladding, facades, and rainwater goods. UniCote® LUX is also ideal for interior uses.

The key benefits of UniCote® LUX:

  • Fire Resistance – meets the requirements of AS/NZS 1530.3. Methods for Fire Tests on Building Materials.
  • Scratch Resistance – no marking of paint surface when tested in accordance with AS2331.4.7, with no less than 1.5kg weight applied to the test piece.
  • QUV Resistance – durability of the coating system meets the requirements of AS/NZS2728:2013 – Section 2.8 and Table 2.4. Note: Tests are conducted on a flat panel.
  • Bend Test – no loss of adhesion or paint cracking when bent around a diameter equal to five times the thickness of the sheet AS/NZS2728:2013 – section 2.6.1 and Appendix F.
  • Impact Resistance – no loss of paint adhesion after a test piece is struck on the reverse side with a specified force of 10J, in line with the test methodology AS/NZS2728:2013 – Table 2.2 and Appendix E.
  • Humidity Resistance – meets the requirements of AS/NZS2728:2013 – Sections 2.8 and 2.9.
  • Salt Spray – meets the requirements of AS/NZS2728:2013 – Sections 2.8 and 2.10.

Technical Specifications – UniCote® LUX

  • Independently laboratory tested to comply with the AS/NZS2728:2013 performance requirements. Suitable for ISO9223:2012. Atmospheric Classifications C1 – C3.
  • The substrate is a hot-dipped Aluminium / Zinc / Magnesium alloy coated steel coil, 150gms/m2 coating weight. Manufactured to AS 1397:2011.
  • The pre-treatment is corrosion-resistant chromate conversion coating.
  • The primer coat is a flexible corrosion-resistant chromate primer with a nominal film thickness is 7μ ± 1μ on the top side and 5μ ± 1μ on the reverse.
  • The finish coat is Polyvinylidene Fluoride (PVDF) with a nominal film thickness of 35µms ± 8µms.
  • Up to 5 layers of a specifically formulated highly durable PVDF topcoat. Typical coating thickness ~35ums ± 8ums.
  • Designed and tested to comply fully with Australian Standards and all relevant building codes.
  • Standard gloss measurement techniques are not applicable.
  • UniCote® LUX products are supplied with a removable protective film.

In addition, the use of UniCote® LUX can help to reduce the carbon footprint of buildings.
