We are wrapping up the year with our work on The Block 2020.
In early 2020 an opportunity came our way to be involved in the popular reality TV show The Block – through LCS Plumbing, our valued installer.
Les Clarke Junior from LCS Plumbing and the ACS team geared up to deliver something truly special. A striking array of metal cladding profiles and finishes were selected for this season’s homes.
Each of the homes in this season of The Block involved a variety of COLORBOND® steel Matt cladding and roofing.
Snaplock and Interlocking Metal Cladding – Flawless and Simply Beautiful.
The metal cladding profile selections of Snaplock and Interlocking needed to ensure that the original houses “paid homage to their heritage”. Also introducing a more modern aesthetic to make the exterior architecture stand out.
ACS fabricated all the walling and roofing sheets made from COLORBOND® steel Matt. It was a humbling experience for our team due to the nature of the work, tight turnarounds, and the pace involved.
It was great to work with Les Clarke Junior and the LCS Plumbing team, who have a true passion for architectural cladding. In order to ensure that the Snaplock and Interlocking metal cladding profiles, we fabricated looked flawless once installed, our team worked with LCS Plumbing to ensure roof to wall transitions were seamless.
Here is a summary of our metal cladding products manufactured to specification and perfectly installed by LCS Plumbing.
House #1.
House # 1 was built in the 1920’s. This house features a magnificent extension involving 38mm Snaplock with a 190 pan – fabricated by ACS. Finished in COLORBOND® steel Matt Monument®. This metal cladding profile highlights the long lines of the building whilst working in perfectly with the front facade.
House #2.
House # 2 was built in the 1940’s post war era. For the rear extension to this home, COLORBOND® steel Matt Surfmist® was installed. An interlocking metal cladding profile was selected and fabricated by ACS in variable seam widths. And to allow the studio/garage spaces to blend into the background, a darker colour was selected being COLORBOND® steel Matt Basalt®.
House #3.
House # 3 was the 1930’s California Bungalow. Staying true to the period, the original home features a traditional corrugated roof in COLORBOND® steel Matt Basalt®. The rear extension involved a roof made from COLORBOND® steel Matt Shale Grey® in a 25mm Snaplock profile with a 325mm pan.
House #4.
House # 4 was the original 1910’s home. The majority of the extension is clad in brick complemented with 25mm Snaplock finished with COLORBOND® steel Matt Monument® with a 325mm pan.
House #5.
House # 5 was set in the 1950’s – mid century modern era. The rear extension involved a combination of 38mm Snaplock finished with COLORBOND® steel Matt Shale Grey™ with a 190mm pan and light brick.
